Drivers on California’s 101 Freeway have encountered an accident in the Los Angeles-area West Valley, with CHP responding to a crash near Chesebro Road.

The incident involved multiple vehicles on the 101 Freeway near the Chesebro Road off-ramp. CHP records indicated a possible multi-vehicle collision, with injuries initially listed as unknown. A temporary Sig Alert was also issued for the area as crews responded to the crash.

The incident was later cleared, according to the CHP incident information, meaning conditions at the location may have changed as emergency crews left the scene. Drivers should still expect traffic conditions to vary along the freeway.

The 101 Freeway covers a large portion of California, stretching through the Los Angeles region, Ventura County, the Central Coast and the San Francisco Bay Area. Because of that, a crash in one section does not necessarily mean the entire highway is affected.

101 Freeway Traffic Update

Caltrans’ current highway information shows no traffic restrictions reported for the Southern California portion of US-101 in its latest statewide road report. However, individual CHP incidents can occur and clear between updates to broader highway-condition reports.

There are also planned closures affecting US-101 in San Francisco. Caltrans says all northbound lanes of the Bayshore Freeway between Cesar Chavez Street and the 17th Street area will close from September 18 through September 21 for pavement rehabilitation, while one southbound lane will also be closed.

Drivers traveling the 101 should check current CHP and Caltrans information before starting their journey, particularly if they are heading through Los Angeles, Ventura, San Francisco or another busy section of the highway.

Further details about any injuries or additional crashes may become available as authorities update their traffic information.
